I wrote a blog on here back in 2012 about my failed attempt to upload a game to newgrounds because of the 10MB upload limit at the time. Thankfully Newgrounds now allows up to 20MB downloads, so my game Koopa Kart Adventure can finally be put up.

As I said in the post from 2012; the game was inspired by games like Banjo-Kazooie and The Legend of Zelda. I wanted the original game to be a 2D adventure game with huge levels and a lot of dumb humor. Unfortunately I could not find the time to finish it back in the day so I stopped working on it all together. Because of the way I was designing it the original filesize was huge, I was aiming for 10 levels and just the one level (Bregull island) was almost 20MB. I also thought the game wasn't engaging, no matter how many interesting scenarios I can put the player in, just moving a character around with the arrow keys can get boring after a while. Every level in the game was going to end in a boss race. Since every level would be designed with a built in race track it would seem fitting, I felt like it was a cool idea.

I cut out the best level from the unfinished game and made it its own short adventure. I would like to make more games like this so I guess this upload is just a way to test the waters and hopefully get feedback.

There are so many references in this game that I can't even count. Every game and game series I ever considered awesome is most likely referenced just in this bregull island level. I think Banjo-Kazooie, The original Legend of Zelda and Mario Kart are the most noticeable references, but I also make references to  The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Majoras Mask, Pokemon Blue, Donkey Kong, Sonic The Hedgehog, Portal, Gauntlet and Metal Gear Solid.

The funny thing about this game are the amount of bird and bird puns. I have part-time job in a tire shop working on cars and I am known by my coworkers for making a lot of puns at work. I am also known for my realistic bird impressions, so I wonder what they are going to think when/if they play this and find out I made a game a few years ago with birds and puns haha.

Anyways I'm done with this blog, I'm going to go take my dog for a walk.
